Membranas Para el Tratamiento de Aguas

CALAGUA Unidad Mixta UV-UPV trabaja en la aplicación de membranas, con el objetivo de transformar el agua residual en una fuente de recursos, tales como energía, nutrientes y agua susceptible de reutilización.

 

La aplicación de membranas para la recuperación de recursos del agua y para la reutilización de la misma viene condicionada por la necesidad de incluir al sector del tratamiento de aguas residuales en el nuevo modelo de desarrollo basado en la Economía Circular.

Esta área de investigación se desarrolla tanto desde un punto de vista científico como de transferencia tecnológica. Para ello, los estudios experimentales se llevan a cabo en sistemas a escala piloto que incorporan módulos de membrana comerciales.

 

Las diferentes tecnologías de membranas estudiadas en esta área de investigación son:

  • Biorreactores aerobios de membranas (MBR) para el tratamiento del agua residual y la obtención de agua regenerada.
  • Biorreactores anaerobios de membranas (AnMBR) para la valorización de la materia orgánica y la generación de efluentes susceptibles de reutilización con diversos fines, tales como la fertirrigación.
  • Sistemas de membranas para el cosechado y concentración de biomasa algal, la cual puede ser valorizada para la obtención de diferentes productos de valor añadido: metano, fertilizantes, lípidos, etc.
  • Sistemas de filtración directa del agua residual urbana para la recuperación de materia orgánica y su posterior valoración en sistemas de digestión anaerobia.
  • Sistemas de filtración basados en membranas no porosas para la recuperación de metano disuelto en efluentes anaerobios.
  • Sistemas de filtración basados en membranas semipermeables para la recuperación de amoniaco, el cual puede ser utilizado con fines agrícolas.
